Nick Bira

Nick is a long-long maker and artist with a passion for education and storytelling. He received his PhD from Oregon State University as a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow on the topics of soft robotics, compliant mechanisms, and magnetoactive smart materials. He is currently a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in the BioDesign Lab at Harvard, and is pursuing translational, interdisciplinary work to develop educational materials incorporating soft robotics. Outside of academia, he spends large amounts of time creating resin-cast artworks, playing Dungeons and Dragons, hand-building robotic sculptures, and cooking new foods.
